WordPress 2.6 IIS Permalink Bug
Some of my readers have noticed alot of broken links on my blog latley. I recently upgraded to WordPress 2.6 on my IIS server and it seems that there was a known bug that was not fixed by the WordPress team before the final version of WordPress 2.6 was rolled out.
Note: IIS users without .htaccess must use /index.php/ in there permalink structure.
I did check my site after the upgrade and everything seemed fine. However, I am pretty sure I didn’t clear my browsers cache 1st. Hence I was completely unaware of the issue, until I noticed a severe drop in traffic and emails started pouring in. Read more
WordPress 2.5 Released!
I am very excited to announce that WordPress 2.5 has finally been released today just a few hours ago. Like any good WP blogger I immediately went to WordPress.org to download WordPress 2.5 and followed the simple upgrade instructions and within minutes I was upgraded to the latest version.
So far I am very impressed although I haven’t had the opportunity as of yet to try out all the new bells and whistles, but I will.
Have you upgraded yet? If so, what are your thoughts on WordPress 2.5?
WordPress 2.5 RC1 Released
Today the long anticipated WordPress 2.5 Release Candidate 1 was released. This version touts a customizable dashboard, multi-file upload, built-in galleries, one-click plugin upgrades, tag management, built-in Gravatars, full text feeds, faster load times and more! I will definitely be upgrading soon, I just need to see what plugins I can live without until they are updated.
There was some buzz around the WordPress camp that people weren’t all that keen on the new admin panel design, however it looks as if the fine folks over at WordPress added the ability to choose your own color scheme and to top it all off you can style the whole thing with a simple styesheet! Now wasn’t that nice of them. ![]()
If you have the time and aren’t afraid of the occasional bug or possible data loss (eek) you can download WordPress 2.5RC1 here and while your at it I recommend looking at this wonderful upgrade checklist and guide posted by Lorelle VanFossen.
What do you think of the new version so far?
